The South Devon Railway has immediate vacancies for Part time staff in its Gift and Model Shop at Buckfastleigh Station. The position will initially be for a period of six months, but for the right person there is the possibility of full time employment. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of model railways and a reasonable level of IT skills. Whilst the requirement is for the equivalent of one full-time person it may be possible that two people working part time could fill the position. The national minimum wage will apply.
The shop operates throughout the year and staff are required to work to a rota which will include some weekend and Bank Holiday working.

If these jobs are not for you then you might like to know that many tasks on the Railway are undertaken by volunteers who have a variety of skills and backgrounds. Prior knowledge of railways is not essential as we provide suitable training to fit the task. Many of our operating staff have been trained in house. The Railway is more than just running trains and we welcome help in all departments.
Operating; Booking Clerks, Signalmen, Ticket Inspectors, Guards, Station Staff and Footplate Crews.
Outside departments; Permanent Way Dept, Signal & Telegraph Dept
If you've practical skills then you may be interested in
Engineering, Carriage Restoration or Premises Maintenance. A great variety of skills can be put to use; electrician, carpentry, painting, upholstery and construction.
